Psalm 93

¹The Lord reigns,^(A) he is robed in majesty;^(B)
    the Lord is robed in majesty and armed with strength;^(C)
    indeed, the world is established,^(D) firm and secure.^(E)
²Your throne was established^(F) long ago;
    you are from all eternity.^(G)

³The seas^(H) have lifted up, Lord,
    the seas have lifted up their voice;^(I)
    the seas have lifted up their pounding waves.^(J)
⁴Mightier than the thunder^(K) of the great waters,
    mightier than the breakers^(L) of the sea—
    the Lord on high is mighty.^(M)

⁵Your statutes, Lord, stand firm;
holiness^(N) adorns your house^(O)
for endless days.

⁹“As I looked,

“thrones were set in place,
    and the Ancient of Days^(A) took his seat.^(B)
His clothing was as white as snow;^(C)
    the hair of his head was white like wool.^(D)
His throne was flaming with fire,
    and its wheels^(E) were all ablaze.
¹⁰A river of fire^(F) was flowing,
    coming out from before him.^(G)
Thousands upon thousands attended him;
    ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him.
The court was seated,

Daniel 7:13 The Aramaic phrase bar enash means human being. The phrase son of man is retained here because of its use in the New Testament as a title of Jesus, probably based largely on this verse.

⁴John,

To the seven churches^(A) in the province of Asia:

Grace and peace to you^(B) from him who is, and who was, and who is to come,^(C) and from the seven spirits^[a]^(D) before his throne, ⁵and from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness,^(E) the firstborn from the dead,^(F) and the ruler of the kings of the earth.^(G)

To him who loves us^(H) and has freed us from our sins by his blood,^(I) ⁶and has made us to be a kingdom and priests^(J) to serve his God and Father^(K)—to him be glory and power for ever and ever! Amen.^(L)

⁷“Look, he is coming with the clouds,”^[b]^(M)
and “every eye will see him,
even those who pierced him”;^(N)
and all peoples on earth “will mourn^(O) because of him.”^[c]
So shall it be! Amen.

⁸“I am the Alpha and the Omega,”^(P) says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come,^(Q) the Almighty.”^(R)

John 18:33-37

³³Pilate then went back inside the palace,^(A) summoned Jesus and asked him, “Are you the king of the Jews?”^(B)

³⁴“Is that your own idea,” Jesus asked, “or did others talk to you about me?”

³⁵“Am I a Jew?” Pilate replied. “Your own people and chief priests handed you over to me. What is it you have done?”

³⁶Jesus said, “My kingdom^(C) is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jewish leaders.^(D) But now my kingdom is from another place.”^(E)

³⁷“You are a king, then!” said Pilate.

Jesus answered, “You say that I am a king. In fact, the reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth.^(F) Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.”^(G)
